Individual counselling

What types of therapy do we offer?

We use a range of evidence-based therapies. We can discuss what fits best for you.

The therapies we use most include:

  • Dialectical behavior therapy skills (skills training only)
  • Narrative therapy
  • Cognitive processing therapy
  • LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapy
  • Mindfulness-based interventions
  • Trauma-focused/somatic interventions
  • Mind-body approaches to chronic pain

We also draw from ACT, CBT, and other therapies as needed.

Case work and advocacy

What is case work?

Sometimes we have life problems that can't be solved by therapy. Sometimes what we need most is practical information and support, so that we can decide what to do next. For example:

  • Falling behind on rent or bills due to financial difficulties
  • Not having access to necessities, such as food and housing
  • Facing discrimination and related issues at school or work
  • Needing information about how to socially, medically, and/or legally transition

We can provide information on a range of issues, and referrals to appropriate, LGBTQIA+ affirming services wherever possible.

What is advocacy?

Sometimes when we are dealing with systems (like school or uni, or the health and mental health system), things don't go to plan. Advocacy is anything we do to speak up for your needs and your rights at school, work, in health settings, or another public setting. This can include...

  • making emails or phone calls
  • writing letters or reports, or completing forms on your behalf
  • attending meetings or appointments alongside you
  • teaching you the skills to advocate for yourself or your loved one
