Our goal is to support you to build the life that you most want to live, no matter what your starting point. We believe that sometimes, our struggles can be our strength. That we can build a life worth living not just in spite of, but because of the challenges we face.
We are an LGBTQIA+ owned counselling practice. We specialise in working with trans and gender diverse people, LGBTQIA+ people, neurodivergent people, and people living with chronic illness/pain.
We bring social justice into the counselling room. We know that no amount of changing how we think, act, and feel can eliminate stress and distress caused by discrimination and injustice. We support you to build a meaningful life despite this - to cope, identify purpose, find community, and where possible, take action.
We don’t do therapy in isolation. We provide opportunities for people to connect, through our group activities, and through referrals to existing community groups. Please note that our group programs are still in development. More details will be released in mid-2024.
We offer affordable sliding-scale fees. We keep our overhead costs low so that we can pass these cost-savings on to you. That said, we never want you to be financially burdened by accessing mental health care. Please see our list of Resources for other options.
At Transform Counselling, we believe that social justice and mental health are connected. We promise to acknowledge and work with this fact, instead of ignoring it.
We believe that healing happens in connection to ourselves, each other, and the planet. We commit to supporting your individual goals, and your access to community and social connection.
We believe that mental health care should be safe, accessible, and inclusive - period. We commit to providing a culturally safe service. We also offer sliding scale fees.
Our practice consciously strives to model anti-racist, anti-ableist, anti-classist, LGBTQIA+ affirming, feminist, and neuro-affirming behaviour. We recognize that the work of being a culturally safe practitioner is ongoing. We commit to being honest, accountable, and making amends to the best of our ability if at any point, we don't meet our own standards.
At Transform Counselling, we use an anti-oppressive approach. In non-academic terms, that means:
We also use a trauma-informed approach. To learn more about what this means, see Blue Knot's Building a Trauma Informed World.

I completed my Master of Social Work in 2022, and have been working in LGBTQIA+ communities in various capacities since 2013. I have previous experience working in a gender counselling service.
My approach to counselling is trauma-informed and anti-oppressive. I am committed to serving LGBTQIA+ communities in an affirming manner. I work to support each person I work with to build a meaningful life not just in spite of, but because of, of the challenges they face.
In my personal life, I'm an avid reader, yogi, creative, and nature lover. (Don't ask my poor plants about that last one, though.)
Does your approach to counselling, psychology, social work, or lived experience work align with ours? Are you interested in collaborating on group facilitation or other projects? Please reach out, we'd love to hear from you.
